Luanda, 07/14 – Juventude de Viana became on Sunday the African clubs roller
hockey champions by dethroning Estrela Vermelha de Maputo, winner of the first edition held
in 1991 in Egypt.
Juventude drew in the final against Petro de Luanda by three goals, but benefited from the fact
that they scored the most goals. The match was played at Cidadela pavilion, in Luanda.
The Angolan teams, first and second placed, won the right to represent the African continent
at the World Clubs Championship, next September in Reus city, Spain.
Final Standings of the 2nd African Clubs Championship:
1 – Juventude de Viana (Angola) – 13 points
2 – Petro Atlético (Angola) - 13
3 – Desportivo de Maputo (Mozambique) – 09
4 – ACPP of Johannesburg (South Africa) – 04
5 – Ferroviário de Maputo (Mozambique) 04
6 – Union of Pretoria (South Africa) - 0
