Morocco thwarts over 88,700 migration attempts in 2018
RABAT -- The Moroccan authorities thwarted a total of 88,761 illegal migration attempts in 2018, a year-on-year increase of 37 percent, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.

According to the ministry's statistics, 80 percent of these attempts were made by foreigners and 29,715 migrants were rescued at sea.
The Moroccan authorities have also busted 229 trafficking networks last year, the ministry said in a statement.
Some 5,608 migrants opted for voluntary return to their countries of origin, the same source noted,XINHUA.
