Reflection for preservation of Ozone layer defended

Luanda - The president of the environmental association Futuro Verde, Simão dos Santos, Monday in Luanda spoke of the need for a reflection on the effort required to the preservation of the Ozone layer.

The official was speaking to Angop on the occasion of the World Ozone Day , September 16.

According to Simão dos Santos, the date always offers an opportunity to raise social awareness of the risks resulting from the depleting of the Ozone layer, through the production and emission of damaging gases.

He spoke of the need for a more actions that contribute to the protection against the rays that damage the environment and living beings.

Simão dos Santos highlighted the importance of the date in recalling the mechanisms that help mitigate the effects of negative activities, adding that several chemicals can cause harm to humans, fauna and flora.

The World Ozone Day was instituted by the United Nations General Assembly through the 49/114 resolution of 1994, to celebrate the signing in 1987 of the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer.
