The tremor was mainly felt by buildings dwellers who reported the shaking of infrastructure and edifices. Many are reported to have fled their apartments.
Southern Huíla province has no equipment to measure the magnitude of earthquakes, the last of which occurred in April 2013 in the locality of Chicomba, some 220 kilometres north of Lubango, having left cracks on buildings. The Chicomba one followed that of 2011 in Quipungo, some 120 kilometres of the province’s capital city. No casualties were reported in either case.
