The country’s commitment was stressed Wednesday by the Secretary of State for Science and Technology, Domingos da Silva Neto.

Domingos Neto said so to journalists at the seminar on the 3rd National Survey of Science Indicators Technology and Innovation held Wednesday in Luanda.

He said recalled that Angola had been mentioned in 2014 in the report of the New Partnership for Development (NEPAD) on the development of scientific research.

Despite this reference, he said, Angola still needs to improve and comply with the standard recommended, namely financing of projects related to the sector.

Despite the progress, the official also spoke of the need for a funding the scientific projects equivalent to one percent of the National Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which, according to him, is still far from the reality in the country,  0.07 percent.

On the other hand, he said efforts are in progress to attain the recommended goal. As example he pointed to the ongoing survey aimed to collect data and information to work out Indicators of scientific research and experimental development, technology transfer and innovation.
