Basketball: African Tournament Winner Expected Back Today

Maputo, 10/11 - Angola`s senior male team of basketball "1º de Agosto" is expected back in the country today, after having won the African Cup preliminary tournament held on 02-08 October in Maputo, Mozambique.
"1 de Agosto" that won all the six games it played, has thus secured itself the passport for the African Cup finals, a trophy it holds since 2002.
Meanwhile, "Petro de Luanda", another Angolan team that also attended the tournament and came second, is expected back home on Tuesday, after qualifying for the African Cup finals.
"Petro" lost a single match 49-63 to "1 de Agosto". Its participation in the Maputo preliminary tournament followed a decision from Fiba-Afrique that has cancelled Ashry Cup for three years.
In compensation, Fiba-Africa has decided that the winners of national cups join the joins the winners of respective country`s championships to play a unique and same competition.
From third to last, the standing was as follows: Desportivo de Maputo (Mozambique), Heroes Play" (Zambia)Hetros Bullets (Zambia), Ferroviário da Beira (Mozambique)Cosfa (Madagascar).
