Luanda - The Angolan basketball player, Vlademiro Ricardo, said on Sunday in Luanda that the national senior males basketball team, who were summoned for the 2010 World Cup in Turkey, are stronger now compared to the team that participated in the previous tournament, in Japan in 2006.
In the 2006 World Cup in Japan, the Angolan squad occupied the ninth position.
Speaking to ANGOP, the player said that the Angolan national team is stronger now than four years ago taking into account the athletes summoned by the coach Luís Magalhães and, therefore, there are good chances to qualify for the second phase of the competition and improve the previous standing.
According to him, the fact of being stronger, as well as the possible absence of some of he main players of opponent teams, the African champions (Angola) are in good conditions to make history in this World Cup.
Angola is part of group A together with Argentina, Germany, Australia, Serbia and Jordan.
