Luanda - Power forward Valdelício Joaquim, playing for Hawaii University, USA, is the only player based overseas summoned for the national senior males basketball Team, for the African Championship of Madagascar, ANGOP has learnt.
The 2,08 metre-tall player is the tallest of the 16 athletes pre-summoned by the new national squad coach, the French Michel Gomez.
The official list of the called up players is to be officially divulged on Thursday.
Miguel Lutonda, Carlos Almeida and Filipe Abraão (1º de Agosto club), who were part of the last team that competed in the World Basketball Championship of Turkey, in 2010, will be the biggest absences from Michel Gomes’ first call-up.
On the other hand, play makers Armando Costa and Milton Barros, African Champions, are back on the squad, since the former has recovered from an injury and the latter was out simply due to technical option.
