Football season ends with Benfica's League Cup conquest

Luanda - The 2014 football season closed last Sunday with Benfica de Luanda?s conquest, last Sunday, of the Angolan League Cup, after beating Petro de Luanda by 1-0, in a final that took 120 minutes for the winner to be found.

After ending the national first division championship (Girabola-2014) in the third position, the players of Benfica de Luanda, coached by Zeca Amaral, confirmed their current good form before an audience of about 20,000 spectators, at 11 de Novembro Stadium.

As a result of their performance in the 2014 football season, Benfica de Luanda are were “crowned” with the Angola League trophy, medals and five million kwanzas (roughly USD 50,000), as well as will represent the country in the African Confederations (CAF) Cup competition, next year.

Petro de Luanda, in their turn, coached by the Brazilian Alexandre Grasseli, did not have a good season, having finished the Girabola-2015 in the fifth position.
