Handball: Angola beat Japan in first round of four-team tournament

Luanda - The Angolan senior female national handball team on Friday achieved the first victory in the four-team tournament taking place in Oita City, Japan, by beating the host squad in the first game by 22-21.

This time, the African champions paid back the initial defeat they suffered against Japan, by 28-29, in the first tournament disputed in that Asian country.

According to the website of the Angolan Handball Federation, the national team will play the second game on Saturday, against Poland.

The participation of the national team in these tournaments in Japan is part of the squad’s preparation for the Germany World Cup, set to happen from 01 to 17 December, 2017.   

The Angolan team is due back in the country on Tuesday, August 15.
