Football: Defence Ministry commends title winners 1º de Agosto
Luanda - The work and great commitment of the 1º de Agosto Club, who are celebrating the conquest of the first division National Football Championship (GirabolaZap2018), have been praised by the National Defence Ministry, the main sponsor of the club.

On a congratulations message addressed to 1º de Agosto board and signed by National Defence minister, Salviano de Jesus Sequeira “Kianda”, it is stated that this twelfth Girabola title of 1º de Agosto is a motive of “indescribable joy and honour” for the members of the club, supporters and sympathisers.
“Your Excellency General Carlos Hendrick (president of the club), on the convincing victory of the 1º de Agosto Sports Club in GirabolaZap 2018, on behalf of the National Defence Ministry and on my own behalf, I present you my sincere and warm congratulations”, reads the note.
The minister also wrote that the conquest by 1º de Agosto of the third consecutive Girabola title is a result of methodical, persistent and creative work of the club’s board, who, in the past few years, have been implementing a great sportive project at national and international levels.
“Thanks to the persistence of athletes and the managers of the team, one can envisage a progressive performance (of the club), which stimulates a hope for better performance in African competitions (...)”, emphasises the note.
1º de Agosto ended GirabolaZap2018 in the first position with 57 points, followed by Petro de Luanda with 54.
