National hockey team summoned for African championship in Maputo

Luanda - Twenty-one players were selected on Wednesday to join the national roller hockey team, ahead of preparation for the African Cup of Nations set for 9 - 12 November in Maputo (Mozambique).

They are Dorivaldo Francisco (Petro de Luanda) and Beto (1º de Agosto), Ny of Académica de Luanda, Zinade and Bruno (Petro de Luanda).

The team includes Pedro Watanga, Anderson Silva "Nery", Adilson Diogo "Pi", Márcio Fernandes, Airton Chissangana "Geovety", Walter, Martin Payero (Académica), Estevão Dala (Marinha), Sérgio Lukukurico, João António "Jú", Francisco Luís "Guedes" (1º de Agosto), André Centeno (Valdano de Itália), Francisco Veludo (Vircelli de Itália), Humberto Mendes "Big" (Noia de Espanha) and João Pinto (Sporting de Portugal).

Addressing a press conference in Luanda, the coach, Fernando Fallé, said that only 10 hockey players will represent the country.

In addition to Angola, the competition is expected to bring together, Mozambique, South Africa and Egypt.

The winners qualify for 2019 World Cup in Barcelona (Spain).
