Roller Hockey: Angola in Geneva in transit to Montreux

Switzerland - The Angolan national roller skate hockey team arrived in Geneva this afternoon to take part in the 68th edition of the international Montreux tournament in Switzerland as from the 17-21 April, 2019.

Arrival of national roller skate team in Geneva

Upon their arrival, the national delegation was received by António Jaime, Advisor to the Permanent Mission of Angola in Geneva, representing the ambassador Margarida Izata.

The group left this afternoon for the venue of the competition, the city of Montreux, where Wednesday they face Spain, at the debut game of the tournament.

The national team will be supported by the Swiss community in a joint mobilization between the Permanent Mission in Geneva and the Angolan ambassador in Bern.

According to the schedule of the competition, which Angop had access to on Tuesday, the national team which is part of the group A, return to play on 18th day against Portugal  at 7 pm  for the second day, and on 19 with host Switzerland (3rd round at 3pm).

After the start of this initial phase, the top two in each group will play the semi-finals, while the third and fourth of the table play for the rankings from 5th to 8th place.

Angola has participated in this event since 1982. The best classification ever happened in 2009, where the national team ranked in fourth place, coached by Spanish Miquel Umbert Riera.
