Basketball: 1º de Agosto coach hails players

Luanda - The coach of 1º de Agosto, Paulo Macedo, said last Monday in Luanda that hs players were brilliant in the 73-70 win over Petro de Luanda, in the fourth game of the Final Playoff of the top division basketball championship, a result that suspended the latter’s celebration for the 2019 title.

The Final Playoff is being disputed in the system of best of seven games, with Petro ahead of the overall result (3-1).

Speaking to the press, Paulo Macedo highlighted the way his players reacted in the final quarter of the match, when all pointed to the team’s fourth defeat in row.  

“Today we were brilliant in face of an adversary with many qualities (...). Things worked out in our favour, so we are moralised for the fifth game”, said the coach.

Paulo Macedo reiterated that his squad deserved the win, having also highlghted the performance of point guard Emanuel Quezada, who throughout the game galvanised his teammates and had the feat of scoring 35 points.

He also commended the way 1º de Agosto fans supported the team all along, even when they were losing.  

The fifth playoff game is scheduled for this Wednesday, at 06.00 pm, in Victorino Cunha Pavillion (Luanda City), home of 1º de Agosto.

In the previous three games 1º de Agosto lost 84-89, 66-75 and 71-74.
