Handball: National team focus on African championship
Luanda: The senior men's national handball team are committed to performing well at the African Championship in Tunisia from 16 to 26 January in Radès, Tunisia, the squad’s coach, Nelson Catito, has said.

Speaking to ANGOP, in the end of the last training, before flying on Wednesday to Algiers City, Algeria, were the team will train for 7 days, the coach said that after three preparation weeks, the upcoming three friendly games will measure the qualities and the possible improvement of our players.
''Our goal is to maintain or improve the third position (achieved in the last championship), but we know the difficulties to be met and we are aware of our responsibilities,” he said.
He admitted having a very savvy and competitive team, aware of their responsibilities of representing the country, although some team members so far haven’t received their prizes for winning the African Games (Morocco 2019).
Nelson Catito said he intended to do more than five pre-match preparatory games but the three already confirmed also serve to test the competitive level of the sixteen players he is taking to the competition.
The national team consists of Geovani Muachissengue and Custódio (goalkeeper); Gabriel Teka, Agnelo Kitongo and Jairoslav Aguiar (pivots); Manuel Nascimento, Romé Hebo and Edgar Abreu (fullbacks); Mario Tati, Feliciano Coveiro, Edvaldo Ferreira and Sérgio Lopes (wingers); Adilson Maneco, Elsemar Pedro, Otoniel Pascoal and Cláudio Chicola (offensive pivots).
Angola are in group B, alongside Nigeria (first opponent), Libya and Gabon.
