COVID-19 causes postponement of athletics CAN
Luanda - Initially scheduled for the 24th to the 28th of June, in Algeria, the African Athletics Championship has been postponed for the year 2021, due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic that is plaguing the world.

The recent decision is the result of a mutual agreement between the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) and the Algerian Athletics Federation (FAA), with the new date still to be decided.
The FAA also postponed to 2021 the African Cross Country Championship, which was to be held in Lomé,Togo, from 6 to 8 April.
Due to COVID-19, the continental athletics circuit, “African Athletics Tours”, was initially postponed from March 1 to May 31, 2020 in Pretoria (South Africa), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Djibouti (Djibouti), Kaduna (Nigeria), Nairobi (Kenya), Brazzaville (Congo) and Yaoundé (Cameroon).
In football, the International Federation of the sport also changed the date of the Club World Cup to 2021 due to the pandemic.
The competition was rescheduled for June and July next year.
