The decision was taken on March 22 following an emergency meeting of the executive members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) held in the Switzerland.
Three possible scenarios have been advanced, namely, the holding of the event in the autumn season or its holding in 2021 or 2022, proposals in which the position of the organizer Japan will be decisive within a month.
In a letter sent to athletes from all over the world, Thomas Bach, president of the IOC, said the measure taken by the organization , took into account, in the first instance, the protection of the human life.
For the Japanese competition, Angola has already completed the selection of handball, sailing, swimming and athletics teams.
Angola has already been represented nine times in the competition. The youngest sportsman to represent the country was swimmer Jorge Lima (13 year), who was part of the Olympic mission in Moscow in 1980, for the first time in the world's largest multidisciplinary sports competition.
Emanuel Fernandes, in his turn, a beach volley athlete was the oldest at 41 years of age to represent the country in Beijing Games in 2008.
