Speaking to sport Radio 5, Almeida admitted that his staff only fulfilled 70 percent of the previous program, much hindered by the financial crisis in the country, which has also affected the FAF.

He cited as an example that the FAF needed 12 million US dollars per year to cover its expenses, but received only about USD 600, 000 from the Youth and Sports Ministry.

Artur Almeida added that FAF’s intention was to turn the national football into a big industry; so he resorted to international diplomacy as the internal sponsors had withdrawn and FIFA had suspended any support for the country.
