Luanda – The African Investment Bank (SA-BAI) was recently elected, by "The Banker" magazine of the Financial Times Group, as the best bank of the year in Angola due to the growth it recorded during the year 2009.
ANGOP learnt this Saturday in Luanda from a press release from BAI that the bank recorded a sustained growth, measured by the amount of assets, consistence of equity capital and profitability during a period in which the impact of the international crisis on the Angolan economy was already predicted.
The communiqué adds that for the attribution of the prize, for the second consecutive year, The Banker also took into consideration the strategic capacity of BAI, by remaining as the first bank with Angolan capital to be placed among the top 20 African banks in terms of net assets.
In this category, BAI was placed as the 13th best bank in the African continent.
On his turn, the CEO of BAI, Lima Massano, affirmed that the force of the business model is based on instructions on the specific necessities of the Angolan market.
A total of 740 banks from 150 countries participated in the competition.
