Luanda – Angola’s central Huambo province might become the national distribution centre for Panalpina, one of the world’s leading providers of forwarding and logistics services, specialising in intercontinental air freight and ocean freight.

This was announced Thursday in Luanda by the director general of the company’s Angola branch, Roberto Fernaine, during the 4th Forum of the Association of Businesses and Brazilian Executives in Angola (Aebran).

Speaking about “Integrated Logistics-Challenges and Resources in Angola”, Roberto Fernaine, who would not set a timing for the beginning of the project, stated that the   establishment of a logistics centre in Huambo is due to the privileged geographic position of
the province (Angola’s centre), which facilitates road connections and areas with various parts of the country.

Roberto Fernaine mentioned the Luanda/Lobito (Benguela), Lubango (Huila), Santa Clara (Cunene) and Massabi (Cabinda) as the main routes of the country, adding that Panalpina group, which significantly increased its transportation volume in the third semester of 2009, has offices in the cities of Cabinda, Luanda, Soyo (Zaire) and Porto Amboim (Kwanza Sul).
