Ondjiva – The German government has released 5.9,580 US dollars for the project of support to peasants families in Ombadja Municipality, southern Cunene Province, whose programme is being implemented by the Association for Rural Community Development (Mafiko).

Speaking to ANGOP, Mafiko’s co-ordinator for agriculture, Miguel Arcanjo Molunda, said the project that started last August aims at supporting the families grouped in agricultural associations based in Ombadja and whose land plots are located along Cunene river.

He also informed that Mafiko is working in partnership with the Agrarian Development Institute (IDA), in identifying and selecting agricultural associations.

According to Miguel Arcanjo Molunda, the money is being used in the acquisition of seeds, ploughs, fertilisers, irrigation material, water pumps and other equipment.

Mafiko was created in 1997 and its main headquarters are in Ondjiva City, Cunene Province.
