Lisbon – The relation between the consumer and supplier or service provider in Angola is imbalanced due to the lack of loyalty on the part of the latter.

This was said Thursday in Lisbon (Portugal) by the director of the National Institute of Consumer Protection (INADEC), Elsa Bárber dos Santos.

The official was speaking on projects awaiting implementation and INADEC experience in the defence of Angolan consumers and their rights, at the 17th Conference on Consumption and Citizenship, held in Almada, Lisbon, sponsored by the Association of Information and Consumption Technicians. (ATPIC).

According to Elsa Barber dos Santos, the consumption relation is imbalanced in the country, as in many cases shop owners/suppliers and service providers put up prices on their own criteria and supply goods in bad condition and expired with no regard to the customer.

The conference tackled, among other topics, education for consumption in Angola, experience of the consumer training centre in Spanish Estremadura, arbitration centres of generic competence and consumption conflict resolution and other matters.

The event that is closing on Friday is being attended by 150 people.
