According to the secretary of State, in an interview to the press in Cambambe Municipality, northern Cuanza Norte Province, the increase of prices in the electricity sector is a mechanism adopted by the Executive with a view to collecting more revenues and avoid the state’s direct financing.

The secretary of State made such statement in the end of a work visit he made to the works of expanding the Cambambe hydroelectric dam.

He went on to explain that with the new tariff, which entered into force on 01 January this year, the firms operating in the energetic sector will stop depending highly on state subsidy, which means they can focus on self-sustainability and provide better services to the population.

Thus, with such move, he said, the government is promoting social justice.

“They (citizens) must pay in accordance with their consumption, contrary to the current model of payment in which everyone was in the same category, when there is disproportion in consumption”, he explained.

Joaquim Ventura guaranteed that when firms start gaining self-sustainability the citizens will start noticing, in a more visible way, the efficiency of services in this sector, therefore, there is no need for the people to panic.
