Speaking to Angop at the end of a two-day visit to Cunene, the minister said essential consumer goods enter the country everyday and the population can remain calm as there is enough stocks.

Rosa Pacavira said a rush of people to supermarkets is noted in some provinces of the country, seeking to buy foodstuffs as though predicting a shortage of essential consumer goods, which will not happen.

What is happening, according to the minister,  is that some dealers are taking advantage of the period of retention facing the country due to the shortage of foreign values.

According to the official, dealers are practicing speculative prices, leading to the rise in the cost of essential consumer goods.

Rosa Pacavira stated that in view of this reality, the Government has adopted measures that include reinforcement of control and inspection of wholesale stores, as some retailers are buying goods in huge quantities to sell them at speculative prices.

During her stay in Cunene, Rosa Pacavira visited the Santa-Clara customs post, the local logistic platform and commercial outlets.
