Bié: Official urges peasants to increase agricultural production

Cuito - The governor of the central Bié province Álvaro Manuel de Boavida Neto Wednesday urged the peasant families to expand the production activity to increase productivity and combat hunger and poverty.

Families told to engage in agriculture


Álvaro Manuel de Boavida Neto - Governor of Bié


Speaking to Angop, the governor said that the Angolan people always relied on agriculture as their survival source.

He urged the population to continue to increase the production of the products such as bean, corn, cassava, rice and other foods.

Álvaro Neto also called on the farmers to get organised into associations and cooperatives as that the Government and partners can meet their needs.

About 1,800 hectares of land is being prepared for 2015/16 agriculture season in Bie province.
