Sonangol to prospect gaseous hydrocarbons in Block 48/16

Luanda - The Angolan oil company (Sonangol) will prospect, explore and develop the production of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbon in the Block 48/16 of the Angola’s offshore.

This follows a Presidential Decree that gives green light to this concession, approved Wednesday in Luanda at the 2,d ordinary session of the Cabinet Council.

According to the final communiqué from the session chaired by the head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, a set of regulations associated with the Maritime Merchant Navy, Ports and related activities, was also approved.

The Cabinet Council also adopted a regulation for the construction activities and public works and legal instruments setting the conditions for access and exercise of such activities.

This is aimed to ensure better quality, accuracy and efficiency in the service of the various economic operators.

Finally the creation of the Academy of Social Sciences and Technology (ACITE) was also approved, including the Tocoista Polytechnic Institute (ISPT).
