This was said recently in Nzeto municipality by Zaire province director of Industry, Geology and Mining, Adão Sofia, who invited investors into the sector in the region.

The official said the administrative division of the region was done taking into account its rock formations as its  six municipalities (M'banza Congo, Nzeto, Soyo, Nóqui, Cuimba and Tomboco) are separated by rock formations, all of them economically valuable.

However, the region is faced with lack of means to turn the natural resources it posses into economic and financial wealth, due to the lack of investors.

He mentioned that the region holds such ornamental rocks like pink, gray, green and black granite, with the coast area possessing materials much used in civil construction, like limestone and phosphate.

He stated that the whole 250 kilometres of the province’s coast hold huge contents of phosphate, only lacking investors to explore them.

In addition to the above mentioned mineral resources, Zaire province is also rich in oil reserves, both on the onshore and offshore.

The Angolan northern Zaire province has an area of 40,130 square kilometres and a population estimated at 600,000 inhabitants.
