Zaire: Over 70.000 tons of agricultural products harvested in Tomboco

Tomboco - At least 70.389 tons of agricultural products were harvested from the beginning of the campaign (December 2015) in Tomboco municipality, northern Zaire province, informed the local official in charge of the agriculture, rural development and fisheries division, Mateus Morais.

Speaking to Angop, the official said that the harvest exceeded 36.562 tons of product if compared to the previous same period, thus highlighting the harvest of products such as cassava, banana, pineapple, maize, peanuts.

Mateus Morais considered the regular rainfall a major factor for the increase of the agricultural production.

Tomboco municipality controls 10 associations and an equal number of agricultural cooperatives that bring together a universe of 592 peasants.
