According to her, the maritime coast of the region is rich in fish, with emphasis on seafood, as well as rivers, lakes and ponds that provide conditions for the practice of aquaculture.

"The fisheries sector has everything to help diversify the national economy. For that we need investment in the fishing industry", she stressed.

Fernanda Guerra defendeu igualmente a necessidade de se apostar também na produção de ração para sustentar os projectos de criação de peixes de água doce, um processe que, no seu entender, deve passar de manual para mecanizado.

Fernanda Guerra equally defended the need to focus also on the production of feed to support the projects of creation of freshwater fish a process that, in her view, should move from manual to mechanized one.

According to her, the creation of a properly organized and industrialized production chain allows the generation of more jobs, income for families, as well as contributes to the diversification of the diet.

The director pointed out the municipalities of Nzeto, Soyo and Tomboco as potential producers of salt, with, however, the need to also benefit from investments.

Last year, Zaire produced about 227,000 tons of diverse fish, including 210 tons of dried fish and 980 crustaceans.
