The minister said so when delivering a speech at the opening of the Fifth Ministerial Conference of the Economic and Commercial Co-operation Forum between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries, happening in Macau.

He said this assistance can be effected both through the existing bilateral co-operation and in the ambit of the Macau Forum, which is a platform for greater approximation of the Portuguese-speaking countries to China.

He went on to say that Angola is developing since 2002 a strategic co-operation with the Asian giant in various domains.

The Macau gathering, said the minister, happens at an important moment for the country, considering the fact that the government has been implementing an economic diversification programme, which is receiving the support of China.

According to Abrahão Gourgel, the results of the Macau Forum – which was created thirteen years ago – are encouraging and have been obtained in various economic and social sectors.

He also revealed that the two countries will hold on 7-9 November this year, in Luanda, an entrepreneurial meeting aimed at involving the private sector more and increasing direct Chinese investment in Angola.

At the opening of the forum, the Chinese government was represented by its prime minister, Li Keqiang.

The Fourth Ministerial Conference of the Economic and Commercial Co-operation Forum between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries was held in November 2013.
