Finance minister, WB discusses partnership

This was during a meeting between the Angolan Finance minister, Archer Mangueira, and the WB vice president for Africa, Mahktar Diop.

Archer Mangueira is in Washington DC at the head of an Angolan delegation , in the framework of the 25th spring sessions of the International Monetary Fund and WB Group.

The Angolan delegation is set to attend various statutory sessions of the IMF and WB Group, as well as bilateral meetings with various entities of the financial sector, reads a note that reached Angop.

According to the source, the agenda for the Angolan mission includes participation in technical seminars and presentation of reports on the world and regional macro-economic environment.

The Angolan delegation is also set to meet with IMF statistics department officials and the deputy director of the financial institution’s African department, Abebe Selassie, and others.

The agenda includes meetings with the president of the New Development Bank, also known as BRICS Bank, the source says.

Other meetings on the Angolan delegation agenda includes sessions with international investors, organised by investment banks and partners, like the VTB, HSBC, Deutche Bank and Goldman Sachs.

The meetings are meant to update the national macro-economic, macro-fiscal and debt framework as recent developments in the country’s monetary and exchange policy and financial system.

Other purposes of the meetings include a regular dialogue with international investors, seeking new opportunity windows for the national economy.

Accompanying the finance minister in the trip are the minister of Planning and Territory Development, Job Graça, the vice governor of the Angola Reserve Bank (BNA), Tiago Dias, and CEOs of relevant commercial banks.

The Angolan ambassador to the United States of America,  Agostinho Tavares, is attending the sessions.
