Bengo exports 347.3 cubic meters of timber to Europe

The head of Forestry Development Institute (IDF) released the data Wednesday.

Francisca Segunda Mande told Angop that 37.1 cubic meters of the said amount were exported to Portugal and 310.3 cubic meters to Turkey.

In addition to the timber, the province also exported 25,000 kilograms of charcoal, having collected 77. 4 million kwanzas for the state coffers, against 66. 6 million

obtained in 2016.

In 2016 the region exported a total of 1,026. 422 cubic meters of wood logs to China and Turkey.

In 2015, 209,160 cubic meters (m3) of wood to Italy, Portugal (109, 909 m3)

, United Arab Emirates ( 4,160.207 m3) and 49,348 m3 for Spain.

However, the logging process of timber was suspended under Presidential Decree No. 274/17 of 10 November.

The deadline for the ban on logging and timber transportation in the country came into force on February 1st this year.
