Luachimo dam foresees four-fold production increase
Dundo - Luachimo Hydroelectric Plant based in eastern Lunda Norte province predicts a four-fold increase in its energy output in the next two years.

The plant foresees four turbines with a capacity of 8.5 megawatts (Mw) each, attaining 34 Mw, compared to the previous 8 Mw.
The predicted production is attributed to the expansion and modernisation works started in May 2017, said Joaquim Garcia, the project manager for Medio Kwanza Office (Gamek).
The Angolan Head of State João Lourenço visited the region to learn the progress of the project, which is expected to benefit more than 10, 600 families.
He put the local need for electricity consumption at below 17 Mw.
Over 250 workers are engaged in the execution of the work.
In his trip to Dundo, capital of Lunda Norte, President João Lourenço visited the Mussungue water treatment system.
The trip covered the works of multipurpose pavilion and the Cacanda Agricultural and Livestock Farm.
