The appeal was made in the commune of Funda, Cacuaco municipality, after an interministerial visit to the lagoon of Kilunda to evaluate the sanitation conditions after a noticing a positive test of the water with choleric vibrio.

Vitoria de Barros Neto said that the issue of Mabunda is sanitation and the way the fish is handled. "We have to tackle the causes of the contamination and in these two places (Kilunda and Mabunda) the cause of cholera may be contaminated water."

"If the fish is handled with contaminated water, there is a risk that it will be contaminated.
Therefore, the Ministry of Fisheries has relocated the fish landing from the semi-industrial fishery in the Mabunda area to the Porto Pesqueiro in Boavista, that has optimal hygiene and sanitary conditions and does not run the risk of being contaminated by contaminated water, "she explained.

The minister recalled the fishmongers that it is inside the market where the fish should be handled to be traded and not near the garbage and the contaminated water, as it happens in Mabunda, because the risk is not only for fish, but also for other foods.
