Three new diamond mines due to open

Saurimo - Three new diamond mines are due to start operating in the next five years in the country, announced Thursday the manager for Strategic Planning and Minerals Operations of Diamond Firm "Endiama EP”.

Lureano Receado was speaking to Angop" in Saurimo, eastern Lunda Sul province, on the sidelines of a visit to the Mining Company of Catoca (SMC), to present the new general manager of diamond company, Benedito Paulo.

He said that the geological prospecting and geophysical surveys began four years ago

in the Mines of Chire, Mulepe and Sanda Mina.

Receado, who did not provide technical details on carat reserves and the lifetime of the mines, said that their entry into operation would boost contribution of the diamond sub-sector in the national economy and the State Budget.

He said that Endiama is working to ensure the operation of the mines within the next five years, in order to increase jobs.

On the other hand, the manager announced the start in two years of the Luaxe mine, located 25 kilometers from the Catoca Mining Society,  whose geological prospecting and geophysical survey work started in 2008.
