Business people must master forest regulation

Caxito - The forestry campaign 2018 opened last Tuesday in the town of Úcua, municipality of Dande, northern Bengo province, a ceremony in which the Secretary of State for Forestry, André Moda, asked forestry entrepreneurs to deepen their knowledge about the Forest Base Law, as well as the new forest regulation.

According to the official, the new forestry regulation is part of a wide range of measures that the sector has been implementing, with the aim of improving and disciplining the sector, as well as the management of forest resources in the face of irregularities that have been observed, especially in the exploitation, transportation and marketing to the final destination.

He stressed that in the field of exploitation, in addition to the annual license; the forest concession contract regime was introduced, which entails the obligation to present a management and reforestation plan for the area under exploitation.

According to the Secretary of State for Forests, a precautionary measure was also adopted, which consists of the temporary ban on the exploitation of the species Mussivi and Pau-rosa, "two species that have been exploited in recent years, in order to allow the inventorying and assessment of the current status of these species.

Regarding timber transportation, the official said that the new forestry legislation came to prohibit the inter-provincial circulation of timber and establishes requirements for a healthy transportation of sawn timber.

The ceremony was also witnessed by national directors of the sector and members of the provincial government, the symbolic delivery of licenses for forestry exploitation 2018 and tree planting.
