Agricultural value chains project reaches Cabinda

Cabinda - The project to develop agricultural value chains for the northern Cabinda province was launched Tuesday in the city of Cabinda, in a ceremony witnessed by the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Marco Alexandre Nhunga.

Aligned with the National Development Plan (NDP) for the period 2018/2022, the project, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), aims to contribute to increased food and nutritional security, job creation and wealth creation in the province.

Marcos Nhunga said at the time that the project, valued at 123.1 million kwanzas, will also contribute to increasing the incomes of small and medium-sized enterprises involved in the supply, production, processing, storage and marketing of the selected products in a sustainable way.

The governor of Cabinda, Eugénio César Laborinho, said that the province has arable land, water resources and a favorable climate that are suitable for growing cassava, beans, sweet potatoes, peanuts, bananas, coffee, Cocoa, palm trees and cashews nut.

"According to Eugénio Laborinho, aligned with these potentialities of the region is the strength of the will of more than 50 families organized in association of peasants and cooperatives for their proper implementation.

He urged the beneficiaries of the project to meet the conditions established, guiding the proper management of the resources to be allocated.
