Diamantino Azevedo was speaking Thursday to the press at the end of his few-hour visit to Soyo municipality, northern Zaire province.

He stressed that the restructuring process will cover mainly the two public companies and concessionaire of the sector, namely Endiama and Ferrangol.

He spoke of the ongoing preparation of the whole process that will culminate in the separation of the concessionaire function.

The official added that these companies won’t  become more efficient unless they actually dedicate to their purpose.

The official mentioned the prospection, exploration and conditioning of mineral resources as the goal  of the aforementioned companies that are being restructured.

On the other hand,  the minister explained that the creation of the National Oil and Gas Agency is also a process, with approved timing and programme.

This process, he added, started with the appointment by the President of Republic of an Installing Commission and Monitoring Group of Installing Agency.

Diamantino Azevedo also said that the Oil and Gas Agency has taken over the role of national concessionaire of hydrocarbons and miners, replacing Sonangol, Endiama and Ferrangol.

The minister visited the local liquefied natural gas processing plant, Angola-LNG.
