Tourism's diplomacy attracts investors

Luanda - Angola hosted for the first time, in 2019, the World Tourism Forum (WTF) and became the second African country to host the event after Ghana, as part of its strategy of spreading the potential and attracting investors.

The meeting, which gathered top managers from the world's leading hotel chains and international tour groups, was attended by the President João Lourenço, former French President François Hollande, among other personalities.

Having successfully organized the 2019 edition, Angola was invited to host the 2020 edition, according to the institution's regional director for Africa, Danilo Nhamtomo.

In addition to Angola and Ghana, the forum has already been held in Turkey, the United Kingdom, Qatar, the USA and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai).

The World Tourism Forum, according to its president, has in its portfolio to invest USD 1 billion in Angola, to help the development of the sector in the African country.

Angola will work with WTF for a minimum of five years to develop tourism, attract investors and promote the country's image.

On the other hand, Angola entered the luxury train travel route, receiving the train from the South African operator "Rovos Rail", which made the inaugural trip of the trans-African train safari called "The Two Oceans".

This train, which departed on 14 July from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, with a final destination to Lobito, crossed Zambia, DRC and arrived at the border municipality of Luau, Moxico province, entry point for Angola.

With 53 tourists from various nationalities, mainly South African, American or British, it makes 18 days of travel, covering 1334 kilometers over the Benguela Railway until reaching the Lobito city.
