Government plans to increase electricity production by 2020

Saurimo - The electricity sector in Lunda Sul province will increase its current installed capacity from 21 megawatts to 111 MW by 2020, with the construction of a hybrid plant and the Txicumina plant with a capacity of 20 MW each.

In providing the information today, in Saurimo, Lunda Sul Governor Daniel Neto said that the increase in capacity is the result of the 20 megawatt Nhama thermoelectric power station, which has now enabled the sector counting in (2019) with 71 megawatts, although only 21 are available, increasing the number of consumers from 18,940 in 2018 to 19,569 in 2019.

Regarding the electrification of the municipalities, he said that the government has acquired three generator sets with capacity of 2.2 mega watts and 1.1, in the localities of Cacolo and Muconda.

In the field of water, Daniel Neto explained that by 2020 the municipality of Saurimo will gain 12 new water points and other small systems for capturing the precious liquid in the municipalities of Cacolo, Muconda and Dala.
