Cruise ship docks at Luanda's port with 380 tourists on board

Luanda - A cruise ship named "Saamga Pearl II" with 380 tourists of several nationalities on board, docked on Tuesday at the Port of Luanda, under an initiative aimed at placing Angolan's port at international cruise ships' road map.

Saga Pearl II is the 37th cruise ship to reach Angola’s sea water since October 2012, under an initiative of the Angolan Tourism Travel Agency “Travelgest” whose aim is to promote national tourism.  

The Secretary of State for Tourism, José Alves Primo, said on the occasion that tourism sector supports this kind of initiatives so as to improve tourism activity in Angola.  The 380 tourists are due to stay in Angola up to 6:00 pm Wednesday, amongst them are 366 British citizens,  and other citizens from South Africa, Russia, Australia, Canada, Spain, Netherlands, Ireland and polland.    

The ship with capacity to accommodate 449 passengers on board and 252 crew members left from the north of England on February 16 navigated through Portugal, Cabo Verde and Gambia.  


Following Angola, Saga Pearl II is to leave for South Africa and is expected to return to England in April.
