The official made this appeal when he was speaking at the opening ceremony of the seminar on "International Telecommunication and Information Society Day", which was marked on Friday, May 17.
Nowadays, he added, one cannot speak of telecommunications and information technologies without digital inclusion as an interactive communication, which enables citizens to have access to ICTs in order to bring people together and contribute to life improving.
The World Information Society Day was established on 17 May by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly following the World Summit on the Information Society held in Tunis in 2005.
The main objective of the day is to draw the attention of the whole world to the changes in society provided by the Internet and the new technologies. The date also aims to help reduce digital exclusion.
