Presidential Golf Day, Tourism Forum promote country’s image - head of state

Luanda - Angolan President João Lourenço said Thursday in Luanda that the Government willingly welcomed the Presidential Golf Day and the World Tourism Forum, international events that help promote the image of Angola.

João Lourenço was speaking at the opening of the World Tourism Forum (WTF) taking place in the country’s capital, Luanda.

The President said that promoting the image of the country, through these two international events, will allow to improve the business environment and thus capture the foreign direct investment.

He called for the need of tourism operators, large hotel chains and international opinion leaders  see not only Angola's tourism potential but also the current constraints and the enormous challenges facing the country.

Only with this perception" in situ "we can foresee and plan, together, a route of progress in the tourism and leisure industry for Angola",  the president told  an audience comprising the world personalities, including the former French President, François Hollande.

João Lourenço said that business opportunities in Angola’s tourism result from  an activity integrating multiple sectors, establishing a relationship with all productive organs of the economy.

According to the head of Executive, its multifaceted and cross-cutting nature means that almost all the territorial management and administration bodies of the State are involved in tourism sector.

The President meant the sectors like the Environment, Culture, Economy, Public Works, Urban Planning, Transport, Security and Health.

Different production units that make up the tourism industry must meet the needs created by them, said the head of State, who defended  importance to promote  greater interaction among suppliers of the hotel and transport services.

He recalled that the Angolan Executive has defined a new framework for direct foreign investment, which highlights the new Private Investment Law, the Competition Law and the Exemption and Simplification of Administrative Acts for the granting of tourist visas, among several others measures and actions already taken.

The forum, taking place for the second time in Africa (the first was held in Ghana), is attended by Angolan Tourism Minister Ângela Bragança and the WTF president, the Turkish Bulut Bagci.

Similar event took place in Turkey, the United Kingdom, Qatar, the United States and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai).

The event, which gathers about 1, 500 delegates, is seeking investment opportunities in the construction, transportation, energy and water and agriculture sectors.
