With a reserve estimated at 350 million carats, the work of geological prospecting and geophysical survey of the mine began in 2008, which later led to the discovery of kimberlite in 2009.

The mine will occupy an area of ??100 hectares and was projected to reach the depth of 400 meters.

Speaking to the press at the end of the visit to some mines in Lunda Norte, Ganga Junior reported that the large sample of the Luaxe kimberlite material is being treated at Catoca (the largest diamond company in the country and the fourth largest kimberlite in the world) .

He emphasized that the contents that had been predicted are confirmed and now the technicians will examine and determine the value of the stones.

Subsequently a feasibility study will be conducted, as well as specific projects of construction of the structures of the mine will be undertaken.

He disclosed that the mine goes into full operation in late 2021 or early 2022.

Meanwhile, small-scale production will be done later this year with the structures of the Catoca Mining Society, which is 25 kilometers off the Luaxe mine.

Ganga Junior recalled that the prediction for the diamond subsector this year is to produce 9.5 million carats, which will allow a turnover of 1.3 billion US dollars.
