Chinese businesspeople seek partnership to re-launch Lobito Corridor

Lobito - Chinese businesspeople are interested to increase the transportation of merchandise from inner Angola and its neighboring countries, under the Benguela Railway (CFB) and Port of Lobito to international market.

The information was disclosed on Tuesday by the Chinese ambassador to Angola, Gong Tao.

Speaking to journalists at the end of a visit to Benguela province, the Chinese diplomat considered Port of Lobito and Benguela Railway ideal companies to provide logistical service of merchandising transportation from abroad as well as to carry out for neighboring countries.

Amongst the firms interested to established partnership with companies of Lobito Corridor are China Harbour Engineering Corporation, which carried out the facelift of Port of Lobito in 2013 along with Costo and Sinotrans companies, turned to logistical services mainly of railway and maritime transportation.

In the meantime, Gong Tao revealed that the aim of these future partnerships is to cultivate market for the good performance of port firms and railway of the corridor, through the transport of merchandise.

The Chinese diplomat, who was accompanied by staff of the embassy and businesspeople from his country, chose Benguela to be the first province to receive his first official visit since he was accredited on May 9.
