The meeting, led by the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Oil, under the theme: “Dimension rocks, a growing sector”, will be attended by guests from Europe and Asia and will discuss issues related to the new geological cartography of southern Angola - potentialities in rocks and mining investment opportunities for foreigners and nationals.
According to a note from the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Oil that reached ANGOP in Lubango, the objective is to encourage investors in the dimension stones sub-sector, as well as the suppliers of equipment and materials applicable to extraction to invest in Angola.
The meeting also seeks to overcome the logistical supply difficulties for mining operators, so new areas for investment and other business opportunities will be presented, such as internal and external architecture, paving of roads and sidewalks, manufacturing and marketing of mining support equipment and rock transformation.
The production of ornamental stones in the province of Huila is expected to increase from 22,450 cubic meters per year to 93,743 by 2024, with the launch of nine new mining companies, generating 993 new jobs.
The Province of Huíla, currently has 28 mineral resources companies, namely ornamental stones (16), mineral water (five), crushers (two), sandstone, ceramics, agro-minerals, niobium and gold (one for each), located in the municipalities of Gambos, Chibia, Quipungo, Lubango, Humpata, Quilengues and Chipindo.
Dimension stones are Huila’s main export.
