According to a note that ANGOP had access last Monday, the sessions, which were scheduled for 18 March, were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, which affects several countries in the world, including Angola, which has 14 positive cases.

For the session of the privatization of textile industry units, such as Nova Textang II (Luanda), África Têxtil (Benguela) and Satec (Cuanza Norte), registrations are being made at the following links:

The online session will be guided by the chairman of the Board of Directors of IGAPE, Patrício Vilar, in two periods (morning and afternoon).

As part of the financial agreement established between the Angolan Government and the Japanese bank JBIC, the Executive invested USD 1.2 billion, of which USD 251 million for Nova Textang II and USD 420 million each for Africa Textile and Satec.

The New Textang (Nova Textang Luanda) and the other units were privatized in 2013 by the Ministry of Industry, through the Institute for Industrial Development of Angola (IDIA), in a public tender that said institution had no competence to do so, due to the volume of investments.

The textile units are inoperable, including Textang II, with an annual production capacity of nine million linear meters of fabric.
