In a statement to the press, at the end of a visit to industrial units of the Industrial Pole of Viana and the ZEE, the government official acknowledged the difficult moment that some companies in the sector are going through due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but encouraged those in charge to keep the employees' work posts.

He said that while the state of exception lasts, as a measure to halt the spread of Covid-19, companies should avoid dismissal of staff and seek strategies to make the workforce profitable, since many families have these factories as their only source of income.

He also mentioned that the Angolan State is committed to supporting the increase and expansion of industrial production to aid development in the national economy.

In his turn, the general manager of the Foodtec factory, Luís Silva, said that the company produces 140,000 tons of pasta daily.

He announced that, at the end of this year 2020, the factory will have another production line, with a capacity to produce two tons of pasta per hour.

He announced that in 2021, the Foodtec factory will start with a global investment of 24 million euros to build a milling plant to produce wheat flour, among other projects.

Foodtec has 300 workers, 40% of whom are women.
