The incumbent minister, Adão do Nascimento, said so Wednesday in eastern Moxico province while speaking to the press at the end of a few-hour visit to the local Higher Polytechnic School.

The official said that the plan, in force since the beginning of this year, will gradually train and qualify the number of lecturers in the country-based higher education institutions.

The minister said that the programme  contribute to the professional elevation of the lecturers capable to train qualified staff for the country's development.

According to him, the plan will also help gradually decrease the number of foreign lecturers and enhance the role of their Angolan counterparts.

The minister recognised that almost all higher education institutions of the country are understaffed, including in eastern Moxico province.

Our budget has decreased due to the oil price fall in the international market, he said, pledging to continue working to tackle this issue (shortage of staff) and ensure good quality of service.

The delegation of Higher Education Ministry is expected back today in Luanda after assessing the functioning of the Higher Polytechnic School in Moxico, attached to José Eduardo dos Santos University (UJES).
