This was stressed Thursday by Teachers' Union (SINPROF) at the Education Conference on "Primary Education of Quality: a challenge to everyone's participation".

Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the event, the vice president of SIMPROF

, Manuel Pereira, said that the policies developed should be directed to the budget, which has currently been insufficient to meet the needs of the sector.

The official called for urgent need to ensure the training and upgrading opportunities of teachers, mainly of primary education.

To Manuel Pereira, a poor primary education undermine any society, and a poorly trained person does not have enough skill to meet the most varied demands of the society.

"There will be no university diplomas which can offset the poor basic education. Apart from providing the first academic foundation, the primary education is crucial for formation of the character of human being," he said.
